Proofgate is a digital proofing and RIP solution that focuses on the essentials - especially for users in agencies, marketing and communications departments and prepress. ICC profiles and MIM sets for common proof standards and printers are already included.

Digital proofs are indispensable in the coordination between creative designers, customers and production. Proofgate offers highest quality in color management and print image. At the same time, the included MIM sets and profiles make it very easy to set up and use. Changes in the color reproduction of the proof printer, for example due to environmental influences or changes in the print head, inks and paper, can be compensated for via ColorGATEs Device Media Synchronization (MDS). So you can proof permanently and in top quality, even without expert knowledge!

Basic Functions

ICC color management with CrossXColor Technology

Gamut Viewer

Two- and three-dimensional (2D/3D) visualisation and comparison of color spaces

The Gamut Viewer can be used via two ways:


1. Out of the Profiler Module (PFM) / Profiler Suite (PFS)

2. Via the menu "options" in the software

Via the menu "options" users can compare up to five different ICC profiles in 2D with a reference or standard color space. These two-dimensional comparisons enable very smooth Campaign Printing Workflows, because of the possibility to define the largest common color space of all printers that should be used.

Via Profiler Module respectively Profiler Suite users can compare the calculated profile directly with the reference profile or with profiles embedded in the MIM combination.

In addition Gamut Viewer allows three-dimensional comparison of up to two ICC profiles. While rotating the 3D-view, problems can be detected and corrected at once. Another important highlight is the option to illustrate a motive as a 3D point cloud. The point cloud shows exactly the parts of the motive that are lying inside and outside the color space.

  • View of calculated gray curves of the ICC profile in different rendering intents which show the different CMYK gray. Combinations depend on the respective profile.

  • View of spider of ICC profile in different rendering intents showing the definition of the profile gamut in the L.a.b. color space.

    Operation of the ColorGATE software on virtual machines is not permitted with software based licenses.

    Hardware based licenses ("hardware dongle"):

    If the virtualization solution supports USB, ColorGATE software can usually be operated with hardware based licenses. Please note, however, that ColorGATE cannot provide support for problems that occur in the context of the virtualization solution. There may be restrictions when printers, measuring devices or cutting plotters are connected via USB. In addition, the hardware requirements must be exclusively available as resources for the virtual machine to ensure a high-performance operation of the software. For these reasons, we recommend using virtualized environments for testing purposes only.
