ColorGATE presents Digital Print Workflow & Color Management Solutions

At InPrint Industrial Print Show, taking place from 14th – 16th November 2017 in Munich, ColorGATE presents Industrial Printing solutions, the new Out Of Gamut Module (OOGM) as well as Color Management Solutions for industrial digital printing at booth A6-344, Messe München. Together with the company IPAC ColorGATE presents the planned cooperation to develop an inline color measurement solution with "Closed-Loop Color Correction", in order to assure continuous color accuracy and color-consistent print results on modern single-pass digital printing systems.

“Only foresight enables you to take advantage of opportunities - and only detailed knowledge brings finesse. The digital transformation of the printing industry is in full swing. Driven by the development of Industry 4.0, it is changing and linking machines, people and markets. This rapid development requires intelligent solutions and a new way of thinking for the decisive edge, which ensures competitive advantages and new business opportunities – that’s Print 4.0.", says Thomas Kirschner, CEO and Founder of ColorGATE.

Digital inkjet printing has revolutionized industrial printing! Get to know our application-specific Industrial Productionserver solutions: with intelligent workflow, high automation capability and modular functionality available. Our solutions are convincing for the digital decoration of flexible packaging, cardboard and containers for industrial use and for surface decoration: let it be printing for wood or flooring, textiles or ceramic products. With our know-how, we enable an individual and flexible design of the products both in mass production and in small quantities – directly in the production process in real-time.

ColorGATE provides solutions to machine manufacturers and OEMs for the following applications:

•    Décor (décor paper roll-to-roll or direct-to-board)
•    Textile, ceramic, floor tiles, wallpaper, glass printing
•    Direct-to-object decoration (bottles, cans, other containers)

Packaging Productionserver (PPS): the future-proof solution by ColorGATE

With PPS you get a highly flexible printing solution for a wide field of applications – with a reliable and complete workflow, RIP and Color Management Solution dedicated to digital packaging printing. ColorGATE offers a modular and adaptive software architecture – optionally to be extended or scaled on demand for higher processing speeds.

New Out Of Gamut Preview available

For the first time, ColorGATE presents the Out Of Gamut Module (OOGM), which is particularly suitable for the use in the production of decorative surfaces and textiles, as well as for digital packaging printing. It provides an easy understandable color reproduction forecast per print job, providing meaningful information even to non-specialist operators if color deviations are expected in print output. In the application of digital packaging printing, ColorGATE's OOGM extends Color Preflighting capabilities to assess the ability of custom color specified brand colors to be reproducible on a digital press. In the case of expected color deviations, production alternatives can be quickly checked in the form of modified processing settings.

The Out Of Gamut Module is used to mark color areas in the job that are outside the selected printer color space (output profile, MIM) and thus cannot be printed true to color. The module provides a print preview with representation of expected color deviations in the job image display.

This additional preview option based on a configured print job shows all printable colors in grayscale tones. If the print job includes specified colors and color ranges that cannot be covered by the selected print color system, they will be colored and stand out clearly from those in gray scale. The qualitative visualization of "out-of-gamut" pixels, referring to print data outside of the area the printing system is able to represent, takes place by means of a heat map. Heat map colors from green for slight color deviations, orange for medium deviations up to red for high deviations will be assigned to predicted color differences. User defined limit values can be assigned to these three colors in the form of DeltaE values, and the intervening areas are drawn in corresponding gradient colors. In addition, this preview offers a tooltip function with display of the DeltaE value for each underlying pixel.

The module can be used for PDF and raster data. It helps for example to decide whether data should be recreated. A tooltip indicates the dE value (selectable between dE76, dE94, dE2000) or output CMYK (or corresponding color mode) values.

Rapid Spectro Cube (RSC) – Ultrafast Color Measurement, Scanning and Profiling for all industrial digital printing applications

ColorGATE’s Rapid Spectro Cube (RSC), which allows you to create an accurate digital color fingerprint for your products, perfectly complements the industrial software solutions.

The Rapid Spectro Cube is an all-in-one Color Management solution for ultrafast color measuring and ICC profiling for industrial digital printing applications. There are almost no limitations for applying the RSC. Fast and secure high-quality ICC profiling and measurements from different conditioned substrates is possible, as well as profile processing with any ICC-compatible image editing or RIP software, e.g. Productionserver. The required minimum patch size is as small as 1 mm.

Ultrafast color measurement, scanning and profiling
This unique software module generates a fingerprint production file, which includes a colorimetric specification of the initial print, which represents a digital master that provides a reliable reference so that future reprints can be reproduced exactly and color consistently. The procedure allows to standardize and ensure optimal reproduction results of digitally decorated objects, such as wood- and plastic surfaces, laminates, ceramic floor- and wall tiles as well as decorative textiles.

•    Measuring and ICC profiling of all substrates and surfaces
o    From non-white/tinted or colored substrates, such as: Corrugated, wood, ceramics
o    From translucent surfaces and high gloss substrates, such as: Glass, high gloss décor or tiles
o    From structured substrates, such as: leather, textiles, ceramic tiles
•    Colorimetric Scanning & LAB Scanning
•    Creation of high-quality ICC profiles (CMYK, RGB, aNyColor)

Fingerprint Module (FPRM) - Patented technology for a “digital color twin” of a physical digital print product

•    Revolutionary concept for efficient and high-quality reproduction and reprints
•    Available for Ceramic and Décor Productionserver and optional all Industrial Productionserver variants
•    Creates a digital master including all colors of master design with the exact same color properties of a master design
•    Fingerprint production file can be produced on any ICC-profiled production line and evaluated in terms of color quality beforehand

Measure Mount – Apparatus for color measurement of cylindrical container

The Measure Mount is a device for the use of the i1Basic Pro 2 hand-held measuring device from X-Rite for the color measurement of cylindrical shaped and hollow bodies such as cans, bottles, tubes and glasses. The manually adjustable device can be adapted to circular bodies with diameters from 2 cm to 20 cm in just a few steps so that the scanning lineal supplied with the measuring instrument is optimally positioned above the shaped body to be measured.
