1-Bit-TIFF-Input-Module 1BITM
The ColorGATE 1-Bit-TIFF-Input-Module provides a simple and reliable method for processing incoming 1-bit TIFF-files for creating halftone proofs and de-screening of input data for form proofs (impositioning proofs). In this way, documents can be tested completely prior to printing to avoid incorrect artwork. The 1-Bit-TIFF-Input-Module is an ideal solution for customers in packaging industry, but also for pre-press workflows in other areas.
Halftone Proofing
Using halftone proofing, original data for exposure, i.e. the input data will be printed in color on any printing system (e.g. proof-printer) featuring the resolution of the final output document. 1BITM ensures retention of best possible screening characteristic and structure, i.e. dot shape, screen ruling and angle. The printed halftone proof visualizes the screening characteristic due to the printing process deployed. In this way, the user can see what the motif looks like before printing respective printing form production. In addition, typical errors such as moiré, rosette effects and too small fonts and elements can be detected, even before starting the complicated set up of the printing press and production of expensive artwork. Before using 1BITM, it was necessary to screen data before halftone proofs production. Now, documents that have ripped once can be printed on various printing systems to create a customized halftone proof for each printing system.
Descreening
By correct implementation of proof workflows (PGM), incoming data will be de-screened for production of color-binding form proofs (impositioning proofs), which allows control of e.g. print page positioning, routing margins, bleeds, and imposition before printing, in which the original screening characteristic is lost. Fields of application are stand proofs as well as content proofs for control in terms of the correct content of the entire color separations, and as well for color-accurate digital proofs that can be used as template for fine-tuning of the printing press.
